Shenzhen Evewin Precision Technology Co. plans to replace 90% of a 1,800-person workforce with robots.
The South China Morning Post reported that Shenzhen Evenwin Precision Technology Co. plans to replace roughly 90 percent of its 1,800-person workforce with machines. The company, located in China’s Dongguan manufacturing hub, makes electronics and cell phone parts. The corporate chairman plans to spend $322M on the factory which will only require 200 humans to maintain. This manufacturing area near the Pearl River Delta has a shortage of human labor. In related news, China’s largest employer Foxconn is working with Google to develop a line of robots with a similar goal. Foxconn manufacuters iPhones and iPads amongst many other things.
