July 6-7, 2017 – Dublin, Ireland

Raw Science TV attended Inspire Fest 2017 on July 6-7, 2017 in Dublin, Ireland in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin’s Silicon Docks. Inspirefest is a unique international festival of technology, science, design and the arts, covering key trends from Infosec to Blockchain, AI to Robotics, Games to Professional Development. The event was created by the indomitable Ann O’Dea, founder of Silicon Republic and lives up to its name. It is a standout gathering even on a global stage.

A Life in Science: Dr. France A Cordova

During a fireside chat at Inspirefest 2017, Ann O’Dea interviews Dr France A Córdova, charting her phenomenal career in science from studying astrophysics, to becoming the first female chief scientist at NASA, to director of the National Science Foundation in the US.

Inspire Fest has a unique purpose in that it celebrates the arts and humanities as the spirt and cohesion behind the most impactful advances in technology. The presentations by Nokia Bell Labs encapsulates this best. Nokia Bell Labs has explored the intersection of art and science for decades with their Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T) program for decades. Recently, they painted the shores of Ireland with a visualization of wireless signals, explored raw space with musician Beatie Wolfe, and used choreography, technology, and non-traditional audience engagement to tell new stories through theater and dance with Hammerstep. Domhnaill Hernon is responsible for both Innovation Incubation as well as the global Nokia Bell Labs activities in the area of Experiments in Art and Technology (EAT). At Inspirefest 2017, he explained these STEAM-powered collaborations to broadcaster Philip King through conversation, music and song.

Transformational Technologies to Create Time

The President of Nokia Bell Labs, Marcus Weldon, also discussed the technology and global human networks with near instantaneous communication that will ultimately create time for us.
